One of the positives of our new shared reality we're all trying to figure out together is that it's caused us to take a step back and reprioritize what we work on, so we can focus on what makes the most impact for our customers. We already communicate with all of our Hall of Fame and All Star customers on a regular basis, but we realized we haven't been communicating with our Professional package customers as frequently as we would like.
As a result, we are recommitting to keeping you informed about what we have going on through our newsletters, and to remind you we are always here to help. Your success in youth sports is our sole purpose and highest priority.
Team Sports Admin 2.0 and Payment Updates
We are all still working remotely at full speed prepping for our 2.0 launch. We're using this unexpected downtime to also include some payment updates that we were going to save for later on this year, so we can be ahead of the game once everyone is back up and running. Updating information about your business may be required to help protect against fraud and stay current with Know Your Customer (KYC) regulations, so we will be following up with you individually if any specific information is required from you as part of these changes. We will have more information about this for you in the coming weeks.
We also continue to work hand-in-hand with our All Star and Hall of Fame customers, to ensure they are ready to go when the time comes to hit play and the get the kids back out there. We are doing this by staying in close communication with their customers on their behalf, building future registration links, and also helping guide them through these uncertain times by keeping their kids engaged. Here are a couple of examples you can use as inspiration for your own organization.
Schools Out
All of us here in Washington State were notified this week that schools will be shut down for the remainder of the school year. Dealing with these extended closures has been tough for everyone, so we wanted to share an example of how one of our local Washington customers is keeping his players involved remotely.
Conboy Basketball (who has one of our favorite website designs) decided to create a 5-Week Basketball Challenge to keep his community engaged. Not only has he been able to support his own community of local players, but he’s been able to reach players across the globe and keep them active and motivated, which has had a tremendous impact for everyone involved during this time.
What makes this great is the event itself is free to maximize participation. However, if someone finds it super valuable and they are in a financial position to donate, we make it super easy with the free donation link we provided as part of this event.
You can learn more about his challenge below:

More Ways We Can Help
As you know we run support for some of the largest youth sports organizations across North America. We know firsthand that everyone is dealing with cancellations, postponements, credits, and refunds, which is no fun, but don't worry we got you covered.
Here is an example we recently suggested to a basketball organization to encourage their participants to use credits in the future, instead of having a huge number of refunds to process all at once. Here were the credit options:
- Free Throw: Offers a full refund for a cancelled event.
- Jump Shot: Offers a full credit towards a future event for the same amount purchased PLUS 15%.
- 3 Pointer: Offers a 50% credit towards a future event PLUS a 50% refund.
- Slam Dunk: Donate the funds for the cancelled event directly to the organization. And if your business qualifies, offer this as tax deductible.
We also know that lot of you in the United States are trying to navigate through the CARES Act for support with your business. Here is something from the Senate that does a great job simplifying it. If you are Sole Proprietor, Partnership, C-Corp, S-Corp, LLC, 501(c)(3) Nonprofit (public or private), Independent Contractor, Self-Employed Individual or another type of entity, we urge you to take a look to see what benefits you qualify for.
And if you have any questions, our co-founder, Tyler Sorensen, is willing to offer his time to discuss any questions you might have about the CARES Act or any of the other loans the SBA is currently offering. Simply click here and we will arrange a time that works for the two of you.
How are you gearing up for when we all can hit play again? Are your next event registration links set up? Are you staying on top of clearly communicating with your own community? As you know, we handle these tasks and more for our All Star and Hall of Fame packages. But we are committed to the success of all of our customers, all the time, so we invite you to click here to request help with event creation, ask questions about the CARES Act, or anything else you might need!
Don't forget we also have a Support Center with specific How to Guides for things like payments, event rescheduling, communication, etc. Please use this resource and we'd love to hear from you about what matters most to you, so we can provide more helpful articles in the future.
Stay tuned for our next newsletter with even more updates and resources!
